Other AbstractA novel strategy for low-thrust and gravity-assist optimization was presented in this paper, which is a two-step strategy including global and local optimizations. First, exponential sinusoid low-thrust with powered swing -by model (LT-PGA) was used to perform global optimization to get important mission time points such as launch date, flyby date and arrival date. The results were used as initials in further local optimization using Gauss pseudospectral method and the discontinuity during swing-by was handled by linkage settings. Simulations show that the computational requirements are relatively cheaper while optimization is efficient without specifying the thrust on and off sequence in prior. The strategy can be used at the initial design stage to give a quick solution.
