A Security Analysis and Evaluation Model on Distributed Autonomous Robotic Systems

AbstractWith the development of artificial intelligence technologies in recent years, Distributed Autonomous Robotic System (DARS) becomes more and more useful in applications of many robotic systems. In DARS, security plays an important role in system engineering. Obviously, analyzing and evaluating security are effective methods in ensuring security of DARS. Therefore, security analysis and evaluation of DARS needs to be considered with limited resources and distributed system characteristics. However, there are many difficulties in security analysis and evaluation, such as how many factors should be analyzed, and how these factors could be evaluated together. In order to analyze and evaluate DARS security systematically and effectively, this paper provides a security analysis and evaluation model with four factors, such as missions security, architectures security, strategies security, and protocols security. Besides, this paper also explains systems security evaluation model with these four factors together. This model could be used to guide security analysis of these factors separately and give a combined evaluation result together. Additionally, this paper also shows a case study for a security analysis and evaluation in practice. The case indicates that the study of this paper could take advantage of security factors together, and gives a reasonable security analysis and evaluation in engineering with qualitative analysis and quantitative evaluation together. In addition, this paper makes a discussion in security model improvement for more factors, items, indexes, and formulas. Finally, the advantages of this study and the future work will be summarized.
