Abstract | HY-2A satellite is the first ocean dynamic environmental satellite in China, and the radar altimeter onboard is a land-compatible one, which is particularly suitable for the coastal applications. In this paper, the first attempt to apply HY-2A altimetry data in a coastal zone is carried out offshore Hong Kong. The HY-2A waveforms are extracted and retracked, and two approaches are employed to improve the retracking performance: the sub-waveform technology and singular value decomposition ( SVD) method. The results are pretty encouraging, indicating the potential of HY-2A satellite altimetry in coastal applications. |
