AbstractThis paper presents an 8x8 magneto-electric (ME) dipole high-efficiency waveguide slot array antenna based on ridge gap waveguide (RGW) feed network operating in V-band. The proposed 8x8 array antenna has three layers: ME dipole layer, backed cavity layer, and feed distribution network layer. A transition from standard V-band waveguide port to RGW transmission line is designed. Final dimensions including ME dipole patch, radiating slot, backed cavity layer, RGW feed network are designed and optimized in simulation software. Simulations of the whole 8x8 array antenna demonstrate that the reflection coefficient bandwidth (vertical bar S-11 vertical bar<-10dB) is 15% from 56.5GHz to 65.5GHz, meanwhile, antenna efficiency is above 90% in the whole frequency band with maximum gain 27dB.
